Section 02 · What Swissquote offers

What Swissquote offers

Swissquote Bank offers spot FX on 100+ pairs, indices and commodities CFDs, metals, equities and ETFs on 60+ exchanges, bonds, options and cryptocurrencies through a REST API and FIX 4.4. Swissquote is a FINMA-supervised Swiss bank and the SIX Swiss Exchange-listed parent (SQN.SW). FIX carries a defined minimum deposit; REST does not. Endpoint specifics live in the Swissquote FIX specification and developer materials.

Markets and strategy patterns

  • Swissquote FIX 4.4 strategies on 100+ FX pairs
  • Bank-tier Swiss-entity (FINMA) systematic FX
  • XAU/USD precious-metals strategies with bank custody
  • Equities and ETF strategies on 60+ exchanges

  • REST API surface for development without FIX minimums
  • SIX Swiss Exchange-listed counterparty risk profile

API surface

Product surfaces
100+ spot FX currency pairs, major and minor indices CFDs, metals, energies, soft commodities, equities and ETFs on 60+ exchanges, bonds, options and cryptocurrencies. Bank-tier custody for equities and metals.
Connection methods
Swissquote REST API for general programmatic access. Swissquote FIX 4.4 (sqfx-fix-api-specification v3.1) for low-latency execution. FIX is positioned for institutional and pro retail, with a defined minimum deposit threshold; REST does not carry the same minimum.
Authentication
REST: account credentials or API token issued through the Swissquote user portal. FIX: SenderCompID and Password issued after onboarding to Swissquote's institutional / pro-retail tier. Demo and live FIX endpoints are separate; daily FIX session reset is part of the operational shape.

Section 03 · Build with AI

Build your Swissquote strategy with AI

Pick an integration method, fork a TradingHost framework starter, and author your strategy in an AI IDE. Swissquote REST is the canonical TradingHost-compatible path for retail tiers; FIX 4.4 is the low-latency path that carries a minimum-deposit threshold. NautilusTrader does not ship a Swissquote adapter.

  • Swissquote REST API

REST surface for accounts, orders, market data and history. The TradingHost-compatible path without FIX minimums.

  • Swissquote FIX 4.4 (sqfx v3.1)

Institutional / pro-retail FIX 4.4 with a defined minimum deposit. Lower-latency execution than REST.

  • Custom FIX engine

quickfix, QuickFIX/J, OnixS or your own FIX 4.4 implementation against Swissquote FIX credentials.

  • Custom REST connector

Your own Python, Java, .NET or Go integration on top of Swissquote REST.

Framework support for Swissquote products

Swissquote REST and FIX 4.4 span the full multi-asset Swissquote surface. Equities trade on-exchange via Swissquote's bank custody (not as CFDs in most cases). Crypto availability is entity-dependent.

✓ confirmed support per Swissquote FIX specification and public REST documentation. "entity-dependent" means availability depends on the Swissquote entity. Workflow links target /workflows/ pages currently in authoring.

TradingHost does not force a framework. It runs your project.

Author with AI

The framework starters above pair naturally with AI IDEs. The TradingHost MCP control surface closes the loop: AI tools can inspect deployments, review logs and manage the runtime alongside you, never the trade execution path.

Section 04 · Run on TradingHost

Run your code on TradingHost

Swissquote Bank Ltd provides the Swiss-bank-licensed broker account, REST API and FIX 4.4. TradingHost provides the production environment where your Swissquote-connected strategy runs.

Instead of running strategy code on a laptop, desktop machine, generic VPS or manually configured server, you deploy from GitHub into a TradingHost-managed container runtime.

You

  • Your repo contains your code.
  • Your deployment defines how it runs.
  • Your strategy connects to Swissquote via REST or FIX 4.4.

TradingHost

  • Keeps the runtime online.
  • Surfaces logs and health checks.
  • Region selection.
  • Controlled deployment surface.

Deployment flow

  1. STEP 01

    Connect GitHub

Authorise TradingHost to access your GitHub account.

  2. STEP 02

Link a repo or start from a framework

Point TradingHost at your existing strategy repo, or fork a TradingHost Swissquote REST or FIX 4.4 starter.

  3. STEP 03

    Deploy into a TradingHost container

Pick a region (the EU region is the natural fit for Swissquote Bank Ltd's Swiss/EU traffic; US-East when paired with US data), supply the environment values your strategy needs (Swissquote API token; or FIX SenderCompID, Password and host), and deploy. TradingHost builds your container from the repo and runs your strategy on managed Kubernetes infrastructure.

  4. STEP 04

    Monitor logs and health

Watch live logs, health and runtime state from the TradingHost dashboard. The same surface is reachable through MCP from any AI IDE, so Cursor, Claude Code or a CLI agent can read deployment state and manage the runtime alongside you.

  5. STEP 05

    Update and redeploy

Push changes to your GitHub main branch and TradingHost redeploys automatically.

Section 05 · Operational notes

Operational notes for Swissquote

Things that bite you when you actually run a Swissquote strategy in a containerised cloud runtime. Every claim is paraphrased from the Swissquote FIX specification, Swissquote's own pages or the relevant regulator; the deployment-side guidance is from running these strategies on TradingHost.

  1. 01 · Bank licensing

Swissquote Bank Ltd is FINMA-licensed; client funds receive Swiss bank-deposit protection

Swissquote Bank Ltd is a FINMA-supervised Swiss bank. Client cash at Swissquote Bank is held under Swiss banking rules rather than the segregated-client-account model used by non-bank brokers, with the Swiss esisuisse deposit-guarantee scheme applying within statutory limits. This is a meaningful counterparty-risk differentiator from non-bank retail FX shops, especially for clients onboarding under the Swiss entity. Non-Swiss entities (Swissquote Ltd UK, Swissquote Pte. Singapore, Swissquote Asia HK, Swissquote MEA UAE) operate under their own local regulators and do not automatically inherit Swiss bank-deposit-guarantee protections.

  2. 02 · FIX minimum

Live FIX 4.4 access carries a defined minimum deposit (commonly USD 50,000)

Swissquote FIX 4.4 is positioned for institutional and pro-retail clients and is gated by a minimum deposit threshold on the live account. The figure commonly cited in Swissquote materials is USD 50,000. The REST surface does not carry the same minimum. Verify the current threshold during onboarding because it can change with product tier. Demo FIX endpoints are available for development without the live minimum.

  3. 03 · Daily FIX reset

Swissquote FIX sessions reset daily at 00:00 GMT with a reconnection grace window

Swissquote's FIX specification (sqfx-fix-api-specification v3.1) documents a daily session reset at 00:00 GMT, after which sequence numbers reset and clients must re-establish the session. A grace window of roughly 20 seconds is provided around the reset. Container code must handle the reset cleanly: anticipate the disconnect, log it as expected, and reconnect on the new session. Strategies that treat the reset as an outage will produce noisy alerts.

  4. 04 · Public listing

Swissquote Group Holding is SIX-listed (SQN.SW); audited results are public

Swissquote Group Holding Ltd trades on the SIX Swiss Exchange under ticker SQN.SW. The group publishes audited semi-annual results per SIX listing rules. For counterparty risk analysis, the public listing improves transparency relative to non-listed retail FX shops. Note that the bank licensing sits with Swissquote Bank Ltd (the subsidiary), not the holding company.

  5. 05 · Multi-asset bank

One Swissquote account aggregates FX, equities, ETFs, bonds, options and metals

Swissquote's banking model gives a single client account access to spot FX, indices and commodities CFDs, equities and ETFs on 60+ exchanges, bonds, options and (per entity) cryptocurrencies. Equities are bank-custodied rather than CFD-style, which has tax-treatment and dividend-handling implications. Strategies that filter by asset class via the API should branch on the security type, not assume a single product line per account.

  6. 06 · Trade reporting

FINMA, MiFID II, EMIR and per-entity reporting is Swissquote's responsibility

Swissquote Bank Ltd reports under Swiss FINMA rules. Swissquote Ltd (UK) reports under FCA / MiFID II / EMIR. Swissquote Pte. Ltd. (Singapore) reports under MAS rules. Other entities report under their respective regulators. TradingHost does not perform regulatory trade reporting on your behalf and is not a reporting service. The strategy code you run on TradingHost is your own algorithmic activity; reporting attaches to the Swissquote entity holding the account.

Section 08 · FAQ

FAQ

No. TradingHost is independent and is not affiliated with Swissquote Bank Ltd, Swissquote Group Holding Ltd or any Swissquote entity.

No. TradingHost is not a bank, not a broker and not a registered investment firm. TradingHost is a cloud runtime that runs your strategy code. The bank relationship, the account, the leverage, the execution and the regulatory protections all live with the Swissquote entity that holds your account.

No. Your REST or FIX client connects to Swissquote and sends instructions according to your own logic. TradingHost provides the runtime where that code runs.

No. Swissquote REST and FIX 4.4 access is provided by Swissquote. You are responsible for your Swissquote account, API credentials and compliance with Swissquote's terms.

Yes, on live. Swissquote FIX is positioned for institutional and pro-retail clients, with a defined minimum deposit threshold (commonly cited as USD 50,000) for live FIX session enablement. The REST surface does not carry the same minimum. Demo FIX endpoints are available for development without the live minimum.

Yes. Swissquote REST is HTTP, so any Python HTTP client works. Swissquote FIX is standard FIX 4.4, so any Python FIX engine (quickfix-python, simplefix, etc.) works.

Yes. TradingHost supports any language that can run inside a container. Swissquote REST is HTTP, and FIX is standard FIX 4.4, so any HTTP or FIX-capable language works.

For accounts under Swissquote Bank Ltd (Switzerland), client cash is held under Swiss banking rules and the esisuisse deposit-guarantee scheme applies within statutory limits. Non-Swiss entities (Swissquote UK, Singapore, Hong Kong, UAE) operate under their local regulators and follow their respective client-asset rules. Confirm the protections that apply to the entity that holds your account.

Open a Swissquote account, request REST API access (or FIX, if your account meets the minimum). Fork a TradingHost Swissquote REST or FIX 4.4 starter, or connect your own GitHub strategy repo. Linking a GitHub repo and creating a strategy is free; runtime plans are listed on the pricing page.

Yes. Leverage is set by the Swissquote entity. Swissquote Bank Ltd (FINMA, Switzerland) applies FINMA leverage rules. Swissquote Ltd (UK FCA) applies ESMA-aligned caps. Singapore (MAS), Hong Kong (SFC), UAE (DFSA) entities follow their respective rules. As a bank-licensed broker, Swissquote does not run offshore retail entities with elevated leverage. The API surface is the same across entities.

Swissquote FIX sessions reset daily at 00:00 GMT, after which sequence numbers reset and the client must re-establish the session. A short grace window (roughly 20 seconds) is provided. TradingHost containers running a Swissquote FIX client should treat the reset as expected behaviour rather than an outage, with reconnect logic baked into the engine.

In your GitHub-controlled secrets workflow. TradingHost reads the Swissquote REST token or FIX SenderCompID/Password at runtime through GitHub repository secrets.

Yes. TradingHost supports MCP-based control for AI IDEs including Cursor, Claude Code, GitHub Copilot and CLI-based AI agents. MCP is a control and observability surface, not the trade execution path.

No. Regulatory reporting is the broker's responsibility. Swissquote Bank Ltd reports under FINMA rules. Swissquote Ltd (UK) reports under FCA / MiFID II / EMIR rules. Other entities report under their local regulators. TradingHost runs your code; the Swissquote entity handles regulatory reporting.

No. TradingHost is focused on production runtime and deployment. Backtesting belongs in your research stack or AlgoBuilder.
